Medical Coder, DHMC
In February 2010, I joined the Vermont Army National Guard. I opted to complete Basic Combat Training between my junior and senior year of high school, putting aside normal teenage activities to become a soldier. I enlisted as a dental specialist, the Military’s equivalent of a civilian dental assistant, attached to VT Army National Guard’s Medical Command. Currently, I am a specialist and help run many Dental Readiness events for members of the VTARNG as well as a full-time medical coder at DHMC. The military has directly impacted my life and my career, making me a diligent employee of the DHMC community with the upmost respect for my superiors and their leadership. My career as a member of the National Guard and DHMC are still young and I am patiently waiting to grow into much more than they are now.
