Deborah L. Cantlin, MSN, RN, CHFN
Continuing Care Manager
What is your fondest memory from your 25 years working at Dartmouth-Hitchcock?
I have many fond memories of working at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, like working with Dr. James Strickler during the last three years of his practice. He is an incredible human being and was an amazing doctor.
I also have had the pleasure of working with some amazing nurses. We enjoyed fun times together at many Service Club dinners!
What about your job inspires you?
I am inspired by the patients I have the honor and privilege of working with. They are constant reminders of how precious life is, how courageous and strong the human spirit is, and how beautiful and unique each of us is. I am inspired by colleagues who are passionate and fierce in their advocacy for the best patient care possible. I am inspired by leaders who ask questions and listen to understand. I am inspired by our current Nursing Shared Governance structure that provides nursing with the avenue for promoting changes in our practice, our environment and our profession.
What do you like best about your department?
I work for the Office of Care Management and Cardiology. I believe in Care Management’s mission to recognize the complexities of people/populations.
The department of Cardiology is like a family. I feel loved, welcomed and cared for. But more than anything, I am blessed to work with the Heart Failure/Pulmonary Hypertension Team. Our team is collaborative, engaged and committed to providing the best patient care possible.
