What is your fondest memory from your 25 years working at Dartmouth-Hitchcock?
My fondest memory at Dartmouth-Hitchcock is of my co-worker. She was a hard worker, dependable and smart. She showed up for work and gave 120 percent. She was compassionate and always here to do whatever was necessary for her colleagues and her patients. One day she had a patient who was upset having just received a diagnosis. The patient was alone, so she stayed with her, consoled her and brought her to the next appointment. She helped her make it through a tough day—that's just who she was.
Little did we know that one day she would become the patient. My dear friend passed away only a few years ago. It is difficult for me to think about the battle she so courageously fought, but I will never forget the person she was.
What about your job inspires you?
The patients inspire me, and the fact that each day you come to work you can have a positive impact on someone's life.
What do you like best about your department?
I love the technology and the fast-paced work environment. No two days are ever the same.
What I like most are the people I work with. I especially enjoy working with new technologists who are full of enthusiasm and excited to learn. I've done this type of work for almost 40 years, but I still learn from them.
