Ellen Chaput, RN, CCDS, CCS
Clinical Documentation Specialist
Clincial Document Improvement
What is your fondest memory from your 25 years working at Dartmouth-Hitchcock?
I started working at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in 1988 in the Same Day Program, transitioned into Pre-Admission Testing and then challenged myself with a position in the Intensive Care Unit. After that, I was lucky enough to be trained as a clinical documentation specialist.
I enjoyed all my positions, but it’s my co-workers who make up my fondest memories. Making the 25-year milestone feels like I’ve come full circle.
What about your job inspires you?
I love the autonomy and independence of doing clinical document improvement work, as well as having the support of a team. I still get to use critical thinking skills, interact with physicians and strive for accuracy of the medical record.
What do you like best about your department?
I continue to learn, and I am challenged every day.
