Hildegard Kannler, MA
Medical Assistant, Supervisor
What is your fondest memory from your 25 years working at Dartmouth-Hitchcock?
I came from Germany as an immigrant and got my first—and only—employment in the United States at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC). I started in the Emergency Department in April of 1994. Despite lacking knowledge of the English language and U.S. medical systems, I was embraced and supported by the staff I worked with. They helped me overcome the obstacles I encountered and encouraged me not to give up when in doubt. That perseverance guided me through my 25 years here at DHMC.
What about your job inspires you?
The ability to pass on to others what I have learned over the past 25 years.
What do you like best about your department?
I like the experiences offered on a daily basis, like the interactions with patients, opportunities to learn more skills, and knowing that my input is being heard and taken seriously.
