"I want every patient to have a positive experience. Surgical patients can be very anxious and scared. Taking a few extra minutes to listen to their concerns and answer questions decreases that anxiety. I try my best to keep them informed and offer magazines, books or DVDs to make the pre-operative wait more tolerable. It brings me great pleasure to alleviate their worries.
I am a valuable IV resource for my colleagues. When there is a challenging peripheral IV to insert, they often come looking for me. They have endearing names for me like the ‘vein whisperer’ and the ‘vein foxinator.’ I’m just glad to help any way I can to make the most positive outcome for our patients."
