Mary F. Brunette, MD
Medical Director of Community Mental Health Services
What is your fondest memory from your 25 years working at Dartmouth-Hitchcock?
I was an intern when staff and patients moved from Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in Hanover to the current location. I was in awe of the structure of the new building—it was a beautiful place to work then, and it is a beautiful place now!
What inspires you?
I really like using data to create new knowledge that can improve care. I am most inspired by people's perseverance in living with chronic conditions—their recovery process informs improvements.
What do you like best about your department?
It is wonderful knowing people over time for many years, but also creating new relationships. I enjoy working with a wide variety of people.
How has COVID-19 affected your work?
I've adapted to connecting with people via videoconference. It was exhausting at first, but my brain has adjusted. Staying connected despite working from home has been really important to staying positive during the pandemic.
