About Us

The Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC) Child Care Center is a licensed, accredited child care program for the employees of the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.  We are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) with headquarters in Washington, D.C.  The center is licensed by the Bureau of Child Care Licensing (BCCL) at NH DHHS for 99 children ages 6 weeks to 10 years and is open Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.  You can find information about NAEYC Accreditation at www.naeyc.org and about licensing at www.dhhs.nh.gov (click on Child Care Licensing link).

Mission Statement

Our mission is to create a loving and nurturing environment respectful of all children and their families, where children can master the developmental tasks of early childhood at their own pace and in their own unique way.

Program Philosophy

DHMC Child Care Center is committed to providing a warm, supportive and stimulating environment, focusing on the individual needs of each child and their family.  We strive to create a hands-on environment enriched with materials that support a play-based curriculum. Children learn and develop through observation and interaction with people and the environment.  The stability and quality of early attachments are key factors in brain development; our center is an environment set up for minimal child transition with multi-age, primary caregiver groupings.  The indoor and outdoor environments provide opportunities for children to experience a wide range of activities that promote social, emotional, physical and cognitive growth.

Program goals

  • Provide a curriculum that is appropriate for the development of young children
  • Provide a high quality early childhood staff
  • Provide services that meet the needs of the employees of the medical center
  • Provide a continuity of care model that supports secure attachments between caregiver and child
